MANSIO launches pilot project with KRAVAG Truck Parking
KRAVAG service becomes available for MANSIO
The software service provider MANSIO and the insurer KRAVAG have entered into a collaboration in the area of truck parking space sharing. The latter is the operator of KRAVAG Truck Parking, which can be used to book secure truck parking spaces throughout Germany. In the future, this service will also be available for MANSIO’s meeting services. The pilot phase will start on November 1, 2024, with regular operations scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
Concepts complement each other perfectly
With the KRAVAG Truck Parking solution, transport companies make high-quality parking space available to other transport companies at over 90 locations. As part of a pilot project, MANSIO is now able to handle encounter traffic on some of these spaces. “A good half of the providers we represent have spontaneously agreed to allow trailers to be exchanged in their parking spaces,” says Thorsten Gutmann, responsible for business development at KRAVAG Truck Parking.
The concept envisages that, in future, participants in the MANSIO meeting services will be able to book two adjacent parking spaces for 30 to 60 minutes at a fixed unit price. This gives drivers enough time to swap their semi-trailers and take a break at the same time. Dispatchers and drivers take no risks when planning. Reservations that have already been made can be canceled free of charge up to five minutes before the start of the slot.
MANSIO Managing Director Maik Schürmeyer reports on the integration: “After the pilot phase, it should be possible to book directly in the MANSIO system via a technical interface.” Initial test runs have shown that these parking spaces are high up in the rankings. This is because the algorithm is programmed to minimize empty and detour kilometers. The forwarding areas of the KRAVAG solution meet exactly these criteria, are conveniently located and often have direct highway access.
Schürmeyer and Gutmann believe that the companies’ concepts complement each other perfectly, as both players think in terms of forwarding networks and act according to the same philosophy. At MANSIO, the hauliers work hand in hand and share the long-distance routes. At KRAVAG Truck Parking, carriers make parking spaces available to other companies in the industry. “The cooperation is designed in such a way that growth is possible in both directions,” emphasizes Schürmeyer.
Parking spaces meet high standards
The private providers of the parking spaces are a “Trusted Community”. Gutmann names the criteria: “We only work with companies that are registered with us and have their headquarters in Germany. The providers score points for their on-site facilities, among other things. In addition to large parking spaces, many parking lots have other infrastructure such as washrooms or shower rooms that can be used.”
With the quality, security and reliable reservation of parking spaces, confidence in the encounter traffic increases. “That’s why we focus on these characteristics when looking for partners, which KRAVAG Truck Parking fulfills in full,” concludes MANSIO.
With their concepts, both companies are helping to reduce the shortage of truck parking spaces, which is one of the biggest operational challenges for dispatchers and truckers. There is a shortage of up to 40,000 truck parking spaces in Germany. As a result, long-distance drivers spend up to 60 minutes a day looking for a parking space.
