Cross Load Network
The Cross Load Network is a network of medium-sized German transport companies. The network was founded jointly by MANSIO and ELVIS AG, Europe’s largest freight forwarding network. The participating haulage companies use the MANSIO system to carry out daily cross-load transports, exchanging trailers from a specially created trailer pool.
Co-pilot during a night jump
With night hops, time-critical transports, such as parcels, are carried out at night between logistics centers with little traffic. Swap bodies are often swapped halfway through the journey. MANSIO links the information from the network operator and the transport companies and thus enables very reliable and low-cost processing of these transports.
Optimization of scheduled services
General cargo networks and large freight forwarders often operate regular routes between their hubs and branches. MANSIO improves these “main routes” so that the trucks are always fully loaded wherever possible. Even if different IT systems are used, we will find the most cost-effective timetable for you: with shuttle, triangular and meeting traffic.

Do I drive my own semitrailers in encounter traffic?
No. In principle, this is possible on a case-by-case basis, but you don’t have to. Depending on the network, we offer you the option of accessing a rental trailer from our trailer pool. Whether standard curtainsider trailers, megaliners or (temperature-controlled) box trailers. You receive a cost-effective monthly all-inclusive package and bear no risk here.
What cost benefits can I achieve?
Various transportation cost factors can be reduced or eliminated by means of encounter traffic. On the dispatch side, there is no need to search for (poorly paid) return loads in distant regions; you are guaranteed a return load. The driver’s expenses and parking fees for an overnight stay at the rest area are eliminated. Driver driving time no longer has to be spent on annoying daily searches for parking spaces. Truck downtimes and empty kilometers are reduced. Higher turnover can be achieved by using the truck in a second shift. A lower risk of cargo theft reduces your costs. Cost benefits can be realized by using the local loading or filling station. Attractive working conditions for drivers reduce the cost of recruiting drivers when vacancies arise. Using the trailer pool reduces acquisition costs for your own trailers. New tractor units can be purchased without sleeper cabs. Encounter traffic has been around for decades, what's so special about it?
You are right, from the Romans to the first postal traffic in Europe or the American “Pony” Express. The concept is not new and is still often used today within forwarding companies or sometimes bilaterally on a static basis. However, with the MANSIO transport system, we are taking intermodal transport to a new level. We offer dynamic intermodal transport for all, based on real-time data. With the right matchings – every day anew.
Do I need regular or daily transportation to participate?
No. Thanks to our network, we are not dependent on a perfect match between two partners every day. We find the right partner for your transport order every day for an attractive return shipment to your defined delivery area. It is not necessary for you to participate every day.
Do I have to accept all transports?
Before the start of operations, you define your delivery area in your home region, i.e. for which postal routing areas around your branch you would like to take on transport orders. Based on this information, you will then receive suitable route suggestions on a daily basis.
Who takes care of the financial settlement with my meeting partners?
We take care of that. The system automatically creates a financial clearing and collects invoice amounts via SEPA direct debit mandate or pays out credit notes. Here we apply the rates agreed between the partners depending on the network. Important: At no time are we or other partners aware of your individual customer revenue.
How is pallet exchange handled?
Just as you wish. Whether via a pallet account in our system or via agreements with the meeting partner. There are various practicable models here.
What are the steps for participation?
Important question. By signing the MANSIO user agreement (can be terminated monthly), we offer you a data-based potential analysis. Without operational participation, we already feed your shipment data and desired delivery areas into our platform and provide you with regular reports with potential traffic. You can then decide to start operations with us if there are suitable matches. We will guide you and your company through the onboarding process. Incidentally, we offer a three-month money-back guarantee for the user agreement. So you can only benefit.
What is the procedure in the event of damage to the trailer?
Any damage is reported in the handover protocol in the driver app. There is a subsequent reporting option for hidden damage.
How are transports insured in the MANSIO system?
The hauliers who take part in the encounter traffic subcontract each other. The corresponding insurance rules therefore apply.
How do drivers access the app?
The MANSIO Driver app is available in the App Store and Google Play Store. Drivers receive a unique six-digit access code to access specific tour data before starting their journey. This is how we ensure security and simplicity.
If I use a MANSIO pool trailer, can I also use the pool trailer for other purposes?
Of course, you can also use the MANSIO trailers with which you participate in the MANSIO Relay System for transportation outside the MANSIO network. The complete “all-round carefree” insurance cover also applies here.
How do I define which matching suggestions should be proposed to me?
For the operational start, you define a delivery area around your location in which you would like to deliver for your partners. Only those orders that have unloading points in this delivery area and are paired with your own shipments can then be proposed to you as a match. Of course, this delivery area can be adjusted at any time.
How does financial clearing work?
No more work for your administration with financial clearing with MANSIO: every two weeks, your sales and expenses generated with the forwarding partners are calculated tour by tour, kilometer by kilometer, and settled via credit or debit note.
What happens if a partner arrives later at the changeover point?
Thanks to the telematics connection, we are able to track the locations of the trailers in the MANSIO network and calculate the estimated time of arrival (ETA) at the changeover point based on the traffic situation. In the event of a significant delay, we can dynamically relocate the changeover point while the transport is still in progress. This is of course communicated to all persons involved and taken into account in the subsequent billing. Furthermore, transport matching can be rearranged on main routes where several partners are on the road at the same time. In the worst-case scenario, the vehicles will have to pass through, as is already the case today with bilateral matched traffic. This prevents a massive delay on the part of one partner (e.g. due to a complete closure) from having a negative impact on the other partners.
How does the tariff system work?
In principle, you receive a certain turnover from your partner for the takeover and delivery of his transport, but at the same time you also pay a certain amount to this partner for the delivery of your transports. In the standard tariff, this turnover depends on the region, distance and number of unloading points. You can use MANSIO’s standard rate or you can use the MANSIO system to negotiate your own rates.
Can I also use my own tariff system?
Whether you are a shipper in your own network, a freight forwarder in an internal network, or in the case of bilateral transport between two freight forwarders: we can easily and effortlessly store your own billing rules and prices. This keeps financial accounting simple and transparent for you. Of course, diesel and toll floaters as well as region-dependent surcharges/discounts can also be mapped in the MANSIO system.
How can I optimize my internal encounter traffic with MANSIO?
With us, you can optimize your internal meeting traffic between locations across branches. With MANSIO, you can significantly reduce your administrative costs and identify new opportunities on a daily basis thanks to our algorithm. Of course, this also works if your branches use different IT systems (TMS).
Are pallets and load carriers also cleared?
Yes, MANSIO’s Financial Clearing also takes pallets and other loading equipment into account. Loading equipment prices and depreciation can be taken into account.
How is adequate customer protection guaranteed?
The guarantee of customer protection is part of the user agreement, which must be signed by each partner before participating in the system. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in the immediate exclusion of the partner from the MANSIO system. We have not experienced any negative cases to date.
Do I have to disclose my customer sales in any way?
No! Of course, your customer turnover remains unknown to us and our forwarding partners. Billing is based on rates – regardless of the turnover you generate with your customers.
Does MANSIO also have exchange points with charging infrastructure?
An important topic for the handling of interchange traffic with e-trucks. We can already book interchangeable parking spaces with fast chargers directly for you. We are consistently expanding our range of parking spaces. MANSIO cooperates with all major providers of parking and charging infrastructure.
Can my carriers also drive encounter traffic for me?
You can also easily orchestrate your carriers in the MANSIO transport system.
How many unloading points are served by the MANSIO system?
This depends on the network in which you participate. In our largest cross-forwarding network, a maximum of five unloading points are permitted. However, most transports in our system operate with 1-3 unloading points.
Do I need regular transportation to participate in the MANSIO system?
No, you don’t need a fixed scheduled connection – about five times a week to Bremen. Thanks to our platform, the nationwide delivery areas of our partners and our network concept, we can offer you new transportation options on a daily basis.
Do I see the same partner every day?
It is possible that you will mainly meet with one main partner. However, as we assign you the ideal transport partner for your order on a daily basis, you will usually also meet with other forwarding companies.
How long does the trailer exchange take?
The pure trailer swap, including logging, is completed within approx. 10 to 15 minutes. Usually, the statutory driving time interruption is then also observed at the swap point.
How does time slot booking work?
The freight forwarder placing the order is responsible for booking the time slot at the place of unloading.
Is the app also available in different languages?
The MANSIO Driver App is available in the most common European languages, even in Kölsch and Upper Bavarian.
How are freight documents handled?
Currently, the freight documents remain in the pocket on the trailer during the change. The proof of delivery to the recipient (POD) is loaded into the system by the driver via the app and is thus made available. As the eCMR becomes more widespread, we will of course be able to process this without any problems.
Can dangerous goods also be handled via the MANSIO system?
Yes, the processing of ADR transports in the MANSIO Relay System is possible and is already carried out on a daily basis.
Where does the trailer exchange take place? Which parking lot operators do you cooperate with?
The trailer swap takes place at selected truck parking areas along the highways that are accessible from both sides. These swap areas (usually two adjacent truck parking spaces + maneuvering area) are booked in advance by MANSIO and are explicitly reserved for the time of the swap; no search traffic is required. MANSIO mainly cooperates with private parking lot operators, freight forwarding yards or shipper locations.
